2025 Best of Philanthropy Awards

Palmetto GBA’s Best of Philanthropy Awards recognize divisions that support their communities through volunteer service, fundraising efforts and donation drives throughout the year. The awards are presented in two categories: Gift of Time & Talent, which honors volunteer service, Gift of Treasure, which recognizes fundraising efforts and donation drives. Each winning division receives $1,500 to donate to the charity of its choice. Congratulations to our 2025 award winners.

Division 54 volunteering at Midlands Orphan Relief

2025 Gift of Time & Talent Award

Division 54

Division 54 earned the Gift of Time & Talent Award through hands-on service that supported several community organizations. Team members served more than 450 meals at Transitions Homeless Center, packed more than 350 hot meals for the Meals on Wheels program and prepared a home-cooked dinner for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. These volunteer efforts provided meals, comfort and support to individuals and families during times of need.

The division’s service also extended into volunteer-led community projects and acts of remembrance. Division 54 collected 3,224 school supplies during a back-to-school drive, helping two local schools instead of the one originally planned. Team members also supported holiday giving through Families Helping Families and participated in remembrance efforts at Fort Jackson National Cemetery by placing wreaths and flags for military service members. Together, these efforts showed Division 54’s commitment to serving the community in both practical and personal ways.

2025 Gift of Treasure Award

Division 1M/6M

Division 1M/6M received the Gift of Treasure Award for their strong support of community organizations through donations and collection drives. The team collected 500 stuffed animals and 56 cosmetic bags for Midlands Orphan Relief and Columbia area nursing home residents, donated more than 500 grocery store bags to Harvest Hope and collected more than 200 essential items for Sistercare. The division also supported the Greater Birmingham Humane Society by donating pet food, care items and supplies for animals in need.

Their giving continued through a yearlong partnership with Grace Klein Community, where associates donated food, shoes, toys and other items to support families facing food insecurity. The division’s support also helped provide food boxes and essential resources for families through Grace Klein’s weekly distribution program.

Together, Divisions 54 and 1M/6M showed how service, generosity and teamwork can create meaningful support for people and organizations across the community.
