Coach of the Quarter – Myra Christian

Myra Christian is a Document Control Coordinator in the Augusta office. She is quick to share and implement ways to do tasks more effectively. Myra has become a master of teaching and delivers feedback to her team so that each member can work efficiently and proactively. Her team is receptive to her coaching style and has adopted many of her process improvements. According to her team, "Myra is a true example of an exceptional coach," and for that, we are excited to announce her as our Coach of the Quarter for Division 93.

Process Improvement of the Quarter – Appeals System Denial Codes

A process implementation from the appeals department created a new reference document that contains the appeals system denial message codes. The document includes the definition and description of each code and how to proceed with a nurse review when one encounters a specific code, the code's liability, and any review exceptions or expectations. This tool was created to help appeals nurses and specialists eliminate and reduce claims being routed to the wrong location or being reviewed incorrectly. Congratulations to the appeals team. Your ingenuity has earned you Process Improvement of the Quarter.

Associate of the Month (July) – Angela Deblasio

Angela Deblasio, a Medical Reviewer III, has been with Palmetto GBA for six years and is an exceptional team member. Recently, the Medical Review team was tasked with completing therapy training for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). This training required additional levels of security clearance for the nurses who participated and was frequently completed under tight deadlines. Angela, who has completed this training, jumped in to help our new nurses by walking them through each step and answering questions. Angela also provides superior customer service every day and demonstrates her commitment to the goals of the company. Congratulations, Angela, on being named our Associate of the Month.

Associate of the Month (August) – Kim Ray

Kim Ray, a Medical Reviewer III, has been with the company for more than six years. During her tenure, Kim Ray has been the "go-to" for multiple managers for precepting and training new medical reviewers, both in person and virtually. Kim is a critical team member of the Medical Review Department. Thank you for your hard work, and congratulations on being named our Associate of the Month.

Associate of the Month (September) – Ann Thomas

Ann Thomas, a document control clerk, takes pride in her work. Ann has become a subject matter expert in Document Control (DC), and many of her teammates look to her for assistance. She doesn't mind taking the extra time to teach. Ann is constantly looking for ways to increase efficiency and improve departmental processes. She recently played a key role in the success of the End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) project. She handled the incoming hard copy receipts as well as the indexing with zero errors. This round, with help from Ann, Augusta DC, doubled the number of records received accurately and efficiently. Ann is always willing to learn additional tasks that arise in DC. For her hard work and dedication to improvement, we congratulate Ann on being named our Associate of the Month.
