He readily shares his knowledge and steps in when teammates need help, extending his commitment to service beyond the provider community.
Division 4M – Prior Authorization Programs
Vanessa Carrero
After moving to a new Prior Authorization team in July, Senior Operations Analyst Vanessa Carrero quickly learned the processes of an entirely different line of business. At the same time, she continued training members of her former team and stepped in to provide reporting support and guidance during a supervisor’s absence. Her knowledge and willingness to remain available helped her former colleagues adjust while she took on her new responsibilities. By supporting both teams during a period of transition, Vanessa helped keep their work on track.
Division 54 – Finance & Accounting
Ashley Chestnut
When Medicare Secondary Payer voluntary refunds become complicated, coworkers turn to Accounting Technician III Ashley Chestnut. She investigates unfamiliar situations, contacts providers to obtain needed documentation and follows each issue through to resolution while maintaining consistently high-quality scores and meeting required timeframes. Ashley also monitors suspended cases for the team. She has trained two associates on voluntary refund processes and remains available as they develop greater accuracy and confidence in the work.
Division 6M – Audit & Reimbursement

Joshua Coker, Auditor II, has steadily taken on greater responsibility, becoming a trusted quality reviewer and successfully leading an internal audit. He also recently completed the Aspiring Leaders program as part of his continued professional development. Joshua makes time to mentor new hires through their first assignments and shares practical tips that help coworkers improve their work. He brings the same care to his interactions with providers, using thorough preparation and a calm approach to keep difficult conversations productive and focused on solutions.
Division 93 – Augusta Operations
Latasha Dawson
When the claims team needed additional help, Document Control Clerk Latasha Dawson quickly learned a new claims-processing system. Within a short time, she was working additional hours to process claims and help keep work on schedule. Latasha also volunteers to work in unfamiliar applications, retaining what she learns and applying it across different areas. This flexibility allows her to move between assignments and support the department in more than one area.
Division 28 - Jurisdiction M Operations
Pia Friday
Pia Friday, Auditor I, brings careful oversight to complex, time-sensitive cases, helping the team complete its work accurately and on schedule. As the team’s subject matter expert on end-stage renal disease reviews, she guides colleagues through detailed billing and documentation requirements. In one instance, Pia helped a teammate determine how policy applied to a challenging case. She also trains new hires by turning complicated criteria into clear steps they can follow with confidence.
Divisions 5/29 – Appeals
Tammy Lassiter
Tammy Lassiter played a central role in preparing a group of nurse volunteers to assist the Appeals technical team with case preparation. As a Training Specialist I, she patiently explained each step and remained available after the sessions to answer questions and resolve issues as the volunteers applied what they learned. Her continued support helped the group approach unfamiliar work with greater confidence while providing needed assistance to the technical team. Tammy also shares useful process updates with coworkers and responds quickly when an issue needs her attention.
Division 10 – Support Operations
Julie Mentnech
Since joining Provider Enrollment in October 2025, Training Specialist II Julie Mentnech has improved how the department plans and delivers training. She redesigned the request process, so each assignment clearly identifies its audience, timeline and intended outcome, making work easier to track and prioritize. Julie also created the Palmetto Medicare Directory, which was recognized as Division 10’s Process Improvement of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2026. By working closely with subject matter experts and the E-Learning Development Team, she has made monthly sessions more interactive and focused on helping participants understand the material.
