How Medical Review Supervisor, Julie Benford’s, Rescued Dogs Become Part Of The Family

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), around 3.3 million dogs are admitted to shelters in the United States every year. If you're thinking about getting a new furry friend, consider visiting an animal shelter. That's exactly what Julie Benford, a Palmetto GBA Medical Review Supervisor, did.

While working at the Tuscaloosa Animal Shelter in Alabama, Julie found her love for dogs. She devoted her time to taking them for walks, playing with them outside, and even organizing mini photoshoots. Julie also wrote articles for the adoption website with the hope of finding every dog a loving forever home. Her passion led her to adopt her first dog, Coco, in 2013. After six wonderful years, Coco passed away, but her legacy lives on every day with Julie and her family.

Julie's love for dogs inspired her and her husband to adopt three more Golden Retrievers from shelters in Alabama. Bella was their first, followed by Vinny and Bear. Julie says, "There is nothing better than having them in our home, where we know they are safe and protected."

If you're thinking about adopting a dog, consider checking out your local shelters. Websites like PetFinder.com can help you find dogs available for adoption in your area. As Julie suggests, "There are plenty of animals in need of good homes. Rescue dogs, in particular, can make great pets as they crave love and a sense of security."
