Process Improvement of the Quarter

Virtual workgroups and Rumba macro to reduce workload

After performing a root-cause analysis on a specific claims-suspending process, team members in the Medicare Part B Claims Processing Department determined they could automate part of the process. By creating and running Rumba software macros that would price the claims held in suspense, the team made the process easier and faster.

Shared Services named this new automated process the Process Improvement of the Quarter because it enhances quality through consistent and efficient processing. Implemented in March, the Rumba macro has significantly reduced staff processing time.
