Palmetto GBA Expands Professional Development Offering
Palmetto GBA has introduced a pilot continuing education program to expand its professional development available to employees. Offered through Pathstream, the program is designed for full-time, non-management employees who want to develop skills, earn certifications and advance their careers.
Just a few of the 193 Pathstream participants (from lower left to top right): Jesse Dumond, MaKayla Bryant, Anita Chisolm, Beverly Saul, Phyllis Folan, Kaitlyn Walker, Wendy Coats, Freddavia Ross, Jamela Hillary-Harris, Michelle Muller, Ahamed Saklaen, Keisha Anderson.
Employee response to this new opportunity has been strong with more than 680 registering on the Pathstream platform and 193 enrolling in certificate programs. Pathstream participant Sharon Perry, a customer service advocate III in the Provider Contact Center pictured below, said, “I have a strong commitment for continued professional development and growth. I am excited to be a part of the Pathstream partnership and am eagerly waiting to participate in my certification course.”
So far more than 120 associates have scheduled calls to speak with a professional career coach. The feedback from those who have already had coaching sessions has been positive. One said, “My coach was friendly, professional, and she was able to connect with me to understand my needs. I am looking forward to our future meetings.” Another offered, “[My coach] made me feel very comfortable talking about what I would like to learn and what I feel I am struggling with in my current role. She was a joy to speak with and is very knowledgeable about leadership roles.”
The Pathstream Process
Eligible employees start by taking a brief assessment of their interests, preferences and goals that generates a selection of possible career paths. Associates then get unlimited one-on-one confidential support from a coach who can help them develop a career plan that is meaningful and fulfilling.
After the consultation, employees may choose to enroll in one of the certificate programs presented by Emory University that focus on career advancement at Palmetto GBA in customer service, operations, analytics and project management. The curriculum covers essential business skills through interactive simulations, labs and projects, ensuring high-quality and practical learning experiences. Courses are 100 percent online, with most programs lasting 8-9 weeks. Some associates started classes as soon as they were available. “I am enjoying the Pathstream course on Business Operations, said Eric Davis, a senior developer. “The coursework is interesting and engaging, and I have already found it helpful in improving interactions with my team. I am almost one third of the way through the course and have completed my first project. I am excited to see what else I can learn!”
Palmetto GBA Growth Options
Whether employees want to learn a new computer program, improve their management skills or get an associate degree or PhD, Palmetto GBA offers resources that help employees achieve their goals. In addition to tuition assistance for higher education, associates can earn Lean Six Sigma certifications and work their way through the Aspiring Leaders and Management Development Programs.
Palmetto GBA is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of its associates. This new offering through Pathstream is a testament to that commitment, providing employees with the tools and resources they need to succeed and thrive in their careers.
