Team of the Quarter
SSI Realignment Team
Team Members: Michelle Anderson, Meredith Cate, Cynthia Glass, Hyacinth Mclean
The team faced a major challenge when 304 Supplemental Security Income (SSI) realignment confirmations arrived from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in a two-day period. Each had to be reconciled against internal listings, keyed into the system for tracking audit and reimbursement (STAR) and organized into network folders. Through collaboration and focus, the team processed all files and met the seven-day deadline to update STAR. Throughout the process, they maintained superior customer service by updating workload assignments, verifying folder content and communicating with CMS. Next, the team developed training to address unique issues with older files and implemented process improvements,
They also introduced process improvements to track and send the reports to CMS and developed templates to review the revised reports. For their efforts the SSI Realignment Team was awarded Team of the Quarter.
CPI of the Quarter
NPR Request Form
Team members: Taylor Barlow, Crystal Medley, Melita Stroud
A new automated program was developed to streamline Notice Program Reimbursement (NPR) requests from Jurisdiction M and Jurisdiction J staff to the cost reporting team. The template captures key details such as provider number, fiscal year end, preferred NPR date and settlement information. It also pulls letters that should be included and comments. Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) coding was included to retrieve contract details based on the provider number along with STAR contact information. The new process can automatically generate an email to NPR.REQUEST and includes an option for multiple requests to be sent from one person. This innovation was named Process Improvement of the Quarter for saving time and improving accuracy in cost report settlements.
