Division 54 recognizes associates for exemplary work in the first quarter of 2022

Coach of the Quarter – Rodney Webber

Rodney Webber is an Accounting Supervisor in the Cost Accountant Department. As a leader, Rodney is very dynamic, encouraging, and positive. He promotes team development training and demonstrates integrity in all of his duties. When working directly with Rodney, he listens and solicits the team's input. He is very open to new ideas and new ways to increase efficiency in tasks. In the first quarter of 2022, Rodney and his team were successful in completing contract invoicing, cost reporting, staff training, special requests, and projects from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These accomplishments ensure that the key measures for the team, department, and company are continually met and exceeded. Rodney is a great example of a strong, strategic leader within the company.

Team of the Quarter – Proposal Team

The first quarter of 2022 was a busy time for the Proposal Team. The team has the responsibility of completing the business proposal and pricing process for Palmetto GBA's procurements and Request for Equitable Adjustments (REA) for the companies' existing contracts. Each proposal is very important to the success of ensuring that we maintain our contracts as well as win new contracts which positively impacts the entire company by providing jobs and additional opportunities for associates. In the first quarter of 2022, the team completed over 20 proposals and REAs. The staff are very experienced and dedicated to the success of the company. Each member of the team is willing to collaborate, ensuring that proposals are submitted on time and meet all quality metrics. Congratulations to the Proposal Team for being awarded our Team of the Quarter for Division 54.

Team Members: Tiffany Johnston, Jeannine Pierce, Jennifer Ross, and Kelly Sago

Process Improvement of the Quarter – Eliminate rework for debts with RTA-TB status

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) bankruptcy staff, Medicare Administration Contractors (MACs), and the Department of Treasury implemented a process so that tagged bankruptcy debts are not re-returned to the MAC via the Return to Agency (RTA) reports by Treasury after CMS instructs contractors to resume with the normal collection process. During this process, the MAC provides a weekly spreadsheet to the Department of Treasury. CMS will then contact Treasury to update CMS systems, confirming the directions given by CMS to not return to MAC. This eliminates the need to rework debts with the RTA-RB status.

The average processing time to process RTA-RB debts returned on the Return to Agency (RTA) report is five minutes per debt. Eliminating the RTA-RB (bankruptcy) debts that are returned on the RTA report in error will save significant hours per month in processing time. Congratulations on being awarded our Process Improvement of the Quarter.

Team Members: Virginia Barrett, Sharon Brunson, Austin Hall, Stewart Harmon, Christy Hopper, and Jacqueline Jackson

Associate of the Month (January) – Ciera Dawson

Ciera Dawson, an Accountant II, is extremely knowledgeable, patient, and supportive of her team. She consistently meets her quality metrics and goes out of her way to help other teammates when needed. Her hard work and diligence to complete work timely and correctly have been noted by members of management and her team. Congratulations to Ciera on being awarded our Division 54 January 2022 Associate of the Month!

Associate of the Month (February) – Sherri Gibson

Sherri Gibson, an Accounting Technician III, has been with Palmetto GBA for over two years. During her time with the company, she has exemplified what it takes to be a strong team player. Sherri's main duties include disbursement, but she has become a cross-trained team member by working with multiple departments. When asked to perform a duty, she will jump in without any hesitation to get the project completed. Sherri shows leadership qualities in her work by looking for new and better ways to streamline her areas of responsibility and taking on leadership roles to monitor and document progression. Recently, she has also helped develop new processes in her projects that have led to her being awarded two separate CPIs.

Sherri is eager to learn new skills, and if there is a task that needs to be completed where she can learn, she is always the first to volunteer to be put on the task. For her hard work, dedication to quality, and being a team player, we are excited to award Sherri Gibson as our Division 54 February 2022 Associate of the Month.

Associate of the Month (March) – Iris Green

Iris Green is an Accountant II who is hardworking. She recently volunteered to help onboard two new team members. "We appreciate how friendly Iris was during our training. She made us feel at ease and when we had questions, she answered them clearly and ensured that we understood." Iris is a prime example of teamwork; despite already having a full workload, she is always willing to take on new responsibilities to better the team and help meet the goals of our company-wide strategic plan. Congratulation to Iris Green for being awarded our Division 54 March 2022 Associate of the Month.
