Process Improvement of the Quarter

Implementation of OPD ADR Training Manual

Team members: Christina Gilbert, Jennifer LaFon, Sarah Medeiros, Lendi Watkins, Stephanie Wood

Medical reviewers in the Outpatient Department (OPD) had to search through multiple websites to find the information they needed to complete Additional Documentation Requests (ADRs). This was time-consuming, confusing and increased the chances of inconsistent reviews. To address the issue, the team gathered information from wide-ranging websites and created a comprehensive and easy-to-access training manual for medical reviewers. The manual consolidates all the necessary guidelines and policies and includes answers to frequently ask questions in one place. Named the Process Improvement of the Quarter, the manual enhances review quality and consistency, reduces the need for email inquiries and saves time for medical reviewers, boosting internal efficiency and provider satisfaction.
