Christina Gilbert

Christina Gilbert, a senior medical reviewer, is a preceptor for Outpatient Prior Authorization known for achieving team goals by empowering and leading team members. Christina does not just tell others how to do something, she gives them the information and tools they need to discover answers on their own. She guides her precepts by asking questions so they can apply what they have learned to find answers. Christina encourages her precepts, takes the time to provide additional information when needed and makes new associates feel they are truly a part of a team working toward the same goal.

Brittney Dent

Brittney Dent, a senior operations analyst in Home Health Review Choice Demonstration (HH RCD), is known for her critical thinking and issue-resolution skills. Brittney is frequently called upon to research complex concerns and to solve problems related to testing, reporting or the tracking system. Recently, she worked with internal and external team members to create a system script to ensure a specific type of claim can be processed smoothly. She has improved work instructions and initiated process improvements that have helped save time, money and resources. Always willing to learn new skills, Brittney is highly adaptable and has received numerous accolades from her team, management and customers.

Karlie Moore

Praised by colleagues as an exceptional preceptor and mentor, Karlie Moore, a medical reviewer II in HH RCD, has been recognized as the March Associate of the Month. Karlie creates a supportive learning environment that encourages questions. Her positive and patient demeanor helps staff smoothly transition into new roles and become successful. More than just a trainer, Karlie encourages and reassures precepts, so they have the confidence to respond effectively at critical moments. Knowledgeable, approachable and genuinely invested in the success of those she trains, Karlie exemplifies a great mentor.

Coach of the Quarter

Leanne Harter

Known for her cheerful personality and positive attitude, Leanne Harter, a medical review supervisor in HH RCD, greets her team each day with a smile. But what has earned her Coach of the Quarter is her ability to help her team push through challenges. She regularly checks on staff and is always available to answer questions that may arise. While coaching, she offers guidance on a specific task but also ties it to other examples to expand its usefulness. On many occasions, Leanne stayed late to explain protocols or to help her staff work through complicated issues.

Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Medical Review Team

Team members: Ashley Aimar, Jennifer Baker, Kelsye Burgess, Emily Campbell, Crystal Hatfield, Meaghan Long, Genevieve Ravencroft, Morgan Reese, Madison Strickland

The Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Medical Review staff are recognized as the Team of the Quarter because they support one another throughout the day as they each educate providers and offer them accurate review determinations. They use Microsoft Teams to communicate with one another regarding the needs of providers and to support one another during stressful situations. To improve their accuracy and consistency, the team holds weekly case study reviews to share their review processes and determinations with one another. They recently received a perfect score during their spring inter-reviewer reliability evaluation that measures the consistency of their messaging to providers.

 

Process Improvement of the Quarter

Senior Medical Reviewer Orientation Checklist

Team members: Christina Gilbert, Jennifer LaFon, Sarah Medeiros, Lendi Watkins

The team developed a formal training process for senior medical reviewers. After taking inventory of materials and analyzing current processes they created an orientation checklist. To ensure consistency and reduce the risk of non-compliance, the team identified a comprehensive list of topics and training documents along with required completion timelines and instructor sign-off requirements. The checklist streamlines the training process, ensures consistent training and as a result earned a quality score of 100 percent.
