Process Improvement of the Quarter

Provider Suspension Report

Team members: Sheila Bell, Kayce Coleman-Adkins, Mary Hamill, Denise Phillips, Shaunice Richardson, Jennifer Williamson

The Medicare Part A Post-Pay Audits team was recognized with the Process Improvement of the Quarter award for increasing the detail and quality of the weekly Provider Suspension Report they send to clinical staff. The previous version of the report included only one status category for providers. The new report is more comprehensive and includes all providers broken out by status: active, pending and suspended. It also indicates if new providers need to be added. The new process, which includes daily data updates by an analyst, ensures that the data is validated before it is sent to clinical staff. By providing clinical staff with more detailed information, they spend less time researching each provider’s status.
