Dan Fulton's 100-Mile Pelotonia-Ride to End Cancer
Since 2011, Project Manager Dan Fulton has participated in Pelotonia-Ride to End Cancer. Last year's ride was one of the most significant and memorable rides as Dan was diagnosed with prostate cancer just seven months before the day of the ride. That didn't stop him from completing his 100-mile ride and raising a total of $6,115 on his 2021 ride to help fund cancer research.
This year's ride was meaningful in another way, as Dan rode alongside a father who had recently had surgery for prostate cancer. According to Dan, "We were like a survivor sandwich for riders we passed along the route. We even talked to others during the ride about how important early PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen) screenings are in detecting and diagnosing prostate cancer.”
Over the 12 years he has ridden, Dan has put tags on his bike to honor those who have fought the disease, including one in honor of his former neighbor and contributor to his race, Betty Brown, who says, "A big heartfelt thank you to Dan Fulton. He carries my mom, Chun Cha, on his Honor Bike each time he rides to raise money for Pelotonia. This means so much to me. Cancer cut short the lives of my mother (colon cancer) and my grandmother (stomach cancer). It's a horrible disease."
During this year's ride, Dan and his riding mate completed a staggering 110 miles and raised $4,150 to help end cancer. "First and foremost, THANK YOU! Family, friends, and co-workers have supported my rides for Pelotonia, generously contributing to the more than $236 million raised since 2009—100% of which funds cancer research. Collectively, we are making a difference!" -Dan Fulton
