April Associate of the Month Honorees Recognized for Excellence
Division 6M – Audit & Reimbursement
Kelly Bultema
Kelly Bultema, Lead Auditor, stepped up following the retirement of a Lead Auditor, helping ensure reviews continued without interruption and important deadlines were met. She produces thorough, accurate work while making time to train new staff, answer questions and support teammates whenever needed. Kelly also plays an important role improving processes by helping update the Nursing Allied Health review template and assisting with training on the new approach. Her willingness to take on additional responsibilities and support those around her has made a meaningful difference for her team.
Division 4M – Prior Authorization Programs
Carla Costa
Carla Costa, Training and Quality Assurance Coordinator, has been recognized for her support of others and her commitment to helping teammates succeed. While balancing a demanding workload and multiple projects, she consistently takes the time to answer questions thoroughly, provide thoughtful guidance and create a welcoming learning environment. Carla willingly shares her knowledge, explains the reasoning behind her decisions and encourages open communication to help others build confidence in their roles. Her patience and genuine investment in developing those around her make her an invaluable resource and a positive influence on her team.

D’M’rtri Dunham
D’M’rtri Dunham, Document Control Clerk, plays an important role in the success of Camden Document Control through her accuracy, productivity and willingness to support her team. During the month, she processed more than 4,000 documents while managing certified mail tracking and preparing letters for distribution. D’M’Rtri also serves as the primary trainer for new hires in the batching area, helping three recent team members build the skills they need to succeed. In addition, she contributed to a process improvement that streamlined mailout letters, saving time and reducing paper waste. Her dependable work and commitment to continuous improvement help keep daily operations running smoothly.
Division 28 - Jurisdiction M Operations
Edward Fedchik
Edward Fedchik, Auditor II, has become a trusted resource for his team through his expertise and willingness to support others. During this review period, he led two audits, completed four desk reviews and provided thoughtful feedback on seven additional reviews to help ensure quality and consistency. As a subject matter expert, Edward also helped improve the department’s bad debt templates by researching requirements and implementing updates that increased efficiency and increased accuracy. Whether leading projects, answering questions or sharing his knowledge with coworkers, Edward’s contributions continue to strengthen both his team and the department.
Division 54 – Finance & Accounting
Kenya Fruga
Kenya Fruga, Accountant I, plays a key role in keeping the Voluntary Refunds (VR) process accurate and efficient through her management of the VR.DocumentsOnly inbox. She goes beyond processing documentation by carefully reviewing submissions, verifying they are matched to the correct Document Control Number and contacting providers when additional information is needed. Her attention to detail helps prevent errors, keeps work moving smoothly and ensures the appropriate staff receive the information they need. Kenya’s proactive approach and dependable support have earned the appreciation of both her teammates and the providers she serves.
Division 93 – Augusta Operations
Tammy Keel
Tammy Keel, Fraud Analyst, is a trusted member of the Benefit Integrity team whose expertise and dedication make a meaningful impact across the department. Since January, she initiated 37 Benefit integrity reviews, responded to ten law enforcement requests, submitted three provider referrals to the Office of the Inspector General and reviewed 325 revocation and sanction requests while maintaining a perfect quality score. Tammy also shares insights on emerging fraud trends, supports process improvement efforts and serves as a trusted liaison to law enforcement agencies. Tammy’s work reflects the high standards of the Benefit Integrity team.
Division 10 – Support Operations
Malinda Williamson
Malinda Williamson, Provider Enrollment Analyst, has set a high standard for excellence on the Part B Provider Enrollment team. She maintained a perfect 100 percent quality assurance score for 12 consecutive months while also delivering outstanding productivity in both March and April. Beyond her own work, Malinda strengthens the team by helping coworkers navigate complex scenarios, sharing knowledge and contributing to Part B training sessions. Her expertise and willingness to support others help improve accuracy, build confidence and keep work moving efficiently across the team.
Division 1M – Customer Service
Connie Young
Connie Young, Customer Service Advocate II, consistently goes above and beyond to support both providers and her teammates through her dedication, expertise and commitment to excellent customer service. As the primary pre-screener for the Jurisdictions M and Jurisdiction J Provider Contact Center, she carefully reviews and routes incoming documents to the appropriate teams, helping ensure work moves forward efficiently and on time. Connie also trains new pre-screeners, assists with returned mail processing and balances these responsibilities while supporting providers over the phone. She takes the initiative to research complex questions, collaborates with teammates to find solutions and follows up with providers to ensure their issues are resolved. Whether helping coworkers, supporting customers or stepping in whenever needed, Connie’s strong work ethic and attention to detail make a positive impact across the organization and exemplify what it means to provide exceptional service.
Division 34 – Systems & Support
Paula Zappala
Paula Zappala has taken on significant leadership responsibilities while continuing to excel in her role as a Technical Advisor. She currently leads the Technical Consolidation Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and Medicare Adjudication Portal (MAP) projects for Palmetto GBA and also provides leadership for the MAP project at CGS Administrators, supporting critical initiatives. Alongside these efforts, Paula continues to resolve complex EDI issues and provide technical guidance that supports accurate claims processing. Her decades of experience, deep technical knowledge and willingness to dedicate extra time to ensure the success of important system implementation make her an invaluable resource to the organization.
