4M recognizes associates for exemplary work in the fourth quarter of 2021

Coach of the Quarter – Keri Ann Bush

Keri Ann Bush, a medical review manager, has been with Palmetto GBA since 2018. Starting her career as a Review Choice Demonstration (RCD) Medical Reviewer II, she quickly learned the home health benefit, which enabled her to be a great asset to her team. Keri Ann was part of the very first Aspiring Leaders Program offered by Palmetto GBA, where she learned valuable leadership skills, obtained a mentor, and was soon promoted to her current position as a Medical Review Manager. Keri Ann's leadership style is team-based in which she works directly with the team to accomplish tasks, goals, and deadlines. Recently, her team was assigned a project in which new skills were required. Keri Ann took the extra time to compile presentations, workflows, and one-on-one training to ensure her team understood every aspect of the project at hand. According to Jennifer Dowell, Medical Review Director, "Keri Ann is an absolute gem! She not only wants to continue her growth as a leader, she also greets each day with a smile and radiates positive energy. It's a joy to watch her challenge herself, seek opportunities for growth, and work effectively as a teammate and a leader."

Team of the Quarter – Additional Document Request (ADR) Medical Reviewers and Management Team

The RCD ADR workflow has been growing rapidly, and the reviewers and management staff have been working extremely hard to collaborate to meet internal metrics and timelines. The reviewer and management staff have worked like a well-oiled machine, pulling together, and getting the ADR claims through the review process on time. For this collaboration, hard work, and dedication, we are excited to announce them as our Team 4M Q4 Team of the Quarter.

Process Improvement of the Quarter - RCD MR II System Downtime Activities

A portfolio of educational activities for RCD Medical Reviewer II's was established. The portfolio includes the following four categories of educational activities: Technology Based Trainings (TBT), mini-Inter Reviewer Reliabilities (IRR), quizzes, and system-based scavenger hunts. Each of the activities within the four categories is designed to reinforce and build upon MR II’s knowledge and, therefore, proficiency related to the RCD, the Medicare Home Health (HH) benefit, and systems used during the medical review. Reviewers complete the assigned activity and forward it to their immediate supervisor for scoring and review. The creation of a portfolio of educational activities and a protocol for use has resulted in greater efficiency, increased reviewer knowledge, and improved reviewer satisfaction.
