A Heartfelt Donation in Honor of Service
Vanessa Fehr, an appeals specialist for Palmetto GBA, made a generous donation of $1,000 to Homes for Our Troops in honor of Division 10 for the Reindeer Games competition, an annual company fundraising competition. Vanessa, who works remotely, was unable to participate in the games with her coworkers in Division 29. Instead, she chose to contribute in a meaningful way by donating money left to her by her late father, Wayne Winchester.
Wayne Winchester served in the United States Air Force for 24 years, retiring as a master sergeant. During his distinguished career, he served in the Iran-Iraq War in the 1980s and he was awarded 24 commendations. Vanessa's donation is a tribute to her father's legacy and his dedication to serving his country.
Living in Phoenix, Arizona, Vanessa is acutely aware of the challenges faced by the unhoused community, with a significant portion being veterans. She believes that donating to veterans is a powerful way to provide support to those who have served our country and their families.
“My division is always doing wonderful things to give back to the community, and I wanted to be a part of that from afar,” Vanessa shared. “This was my way of giving back and helping those who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
Vanessa's heartfelt contribution exemplifies the spirit of giving and the strong sense of community within Division 10 and Palmetto GBA. Her donation not only honors her father's memory but also supports a cause close to her heart, making a positive impact on the lives of veterans in need.
